Cleveland Water Honored for Management Excellence
Cleveland Water has been presented with the Gold Award for Exceptional Utility Performance by the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA) which recognizes outstanding achievement in implementing the nationally recognized Attributes of Effective Utility Management.
“I am very proud that AMWA has recognized the success of Cleveland Water’s performance improvement efforts,” said Robert Davis, Director of the City of Cleveland Department of Public Utilities. “This award demonstrates to our customers our commitment to implementing proven and innovative strategies in delivering safe, reliable, and affordable water.
One of three public drinking water systems to receive the Gold Award, Cleveland Water was recognized for aggressively tackling the issue of water loss, maintaining high water quality by optimizing its four interconnected water treatment plants and monitoring the health of Lake Erie, and investing in technology and training to improve customer service across its operations.
“We’re excited to receive national recognition for the measurable improvements projects like our automated meter reading technology and plant enhancement program have had on both our service to customers and our internal operations,” said Commissioner of Cleveland Water Alex Margevicius.
“AMWA’s 2018 award winners are industry-leading water systems with innovative managers and dedicated workforces who create sustainable utilities marked by high quality, affordable water, responsive customer service, and attention to resource management and environmental protection,” said Mac Underwood, AMWA president and general manager of Birmingham Water Works. “The accomplishments of these exceptionally well-run public utilities should be a source of pride for the communities they serve.”
